Make Plans to Attend the 2014 Pet Palooza

One of the benefits of life at Catalyst Charlotte is the chance you have to enjoy life in Uptown Charlotte with your favorite furry companion. If you want to celebrate all things pets this spring, make plans to head to Pet Palooza, hosted by the Humane Society of Charlotte. This fundraiser brings pets, pet owners and pet lovers together for a one-day fundraiser to help the Humane Society of Charlotte continue offering their services to the community.

The Details

This year’s Pet Palooza will be held April 5th at Independence Park from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., no matter the weather. It is being presented by the Animal Medical Hospital and will host 78 different vendors and sponsors. Live music, entertainment and games will keep everyone entertained.

This year, Alex Kastanas and gogo Pilot will offer live music throughout the festival. A Fido Fashion Show featuring dogs that were adopted through the Humane Society and pets that are available for adoption, as well as a variety of dog contests and a vendor fair round out the entertainment options.

To get in on the fun, consider joining the Owner/Dog look-a-like, Fido’s Got Talent or the Most Interesting Looking Mutt. These contests are free to participate in and registration begins at 12:30, but only a limited number of participants are allowed, so get in line early.

Take the Walk

As part of Pet Palooza, the Humane Society will host a 2K dog walk. Proceeds from the dog walk go in their entirety to the Humane Society’s programs. The top fundraisers will win a prize from a selection of cruises and hotel stays. Top corporate fundraisers or community team fundraisers will win from a selection of prize packs. The walk starts at 10:00 and costumes for both dogs and humans are encouraged, with prizes for the best dressed.

Learn About Pet Health

The Human Society of Charlotte is dedicated to providing Charlotte residents with information about pet care and health, and many of the vendors at Pet Palooza will offer demonstrations and services to keep your pet well. If your pet is not micro-chipped, a $15 microchip service will be available. Watch a pet CPR demo, have your pet’s paw read or participate in a pet massage.

Adopt a New Friend

If you don’t already have a pet, or if you are looking to add another one to your family, the Humane Society will have over 60 pets available for adoption at the festival. Take home your new companion at the event.

Are you making plans to attend Pet Palooza? Will you bring your dog with you, or go on your own to see the vendors? Connect with other Catalyst community members to enjoy this coming event.
